Biography: Born and educated in Dublin, George Barret moved to London in 1763 and joined the Royal Academy five years later. Working in oils and watercolor, he preferred to paint landscapes, the most famous of which is a panoramic view of the Lake District in Surrey. He received business from many aristocratic clients but became bankrupt because of his argumentative personality.
