Biography: Born in Delhi, India, Basawan was named one of the 17 top painters in the Mughal Empire, according the Abul Fazl, Akbar the Great’s chief minister. Known for his delicate brushwork and vibrant colors, Basawan created miniature paintings that depicted the clash between Muslim and Hindu cultures in great detail.
