Biography:
Umberto Boccioni was a member of the Futurist movement, signing two of the its painting manifestoes in 1910. He also wrote a manifesto on sculpture two years later. His early work dealt with city life but he developed an abstract style after his visit to Paris 1912. In sculpture, Boccioni used an array of materials including glass, electricity and motorized parts. He died while serving in the Italian army during World War I.
