Biography: Luca Carlevaris was born in Udine but worked mostly in Venice. He is recognized as the father of 18th century Venetian view painting, incorporating mathematics and perspective into his investigations. Carlevaris published a set of 104 etchings of Venice in 1703, which was later used by Canaletto and Guardi.
