Biography:
As a child, Canadian artist Alex Colville battled pneumonia and was encourages to draw during his recovery periods. Originally intending to go into law and politics, Colville was persuaded otherwise by his mentor Stanley Royale. He spent three years as a war artist and then taught at Mount Allison University until 1963. His paintings are executed in realist style using the pointillism of the post-impressionist movement.
