Biography:
Richard Diebenkorn was born in Portland, Oregon, and refined his artistic talent on the west coast, away from trends in Pop Art and Abstract Expressionism. He attended the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco in 1946, and taught there afterwards. His interest was in landscapes created with broad strokes of color, which he expanded later to study color-fields and the work of Symbolist painters.
