Biography: Louis-Emile Durandelle photographed with his partner, Hyacinthe Cesar Delmaet from 1854 to 1862. The pair split and Durandelle continued to photograph architecture and public buildings throughout France, including the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel and the construction of the Theatre de Monte Carlo. In the early 1870’s, he photographed the Paris Commune. Durandelle published a portfolio in 1876 that was a ten-year documentation of the Paris Opera decorations. From 1887 to 1889, he photographed the building of the Eiffel Tower.
