Biography:
Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi first studied in the Carracci studio in Bologna before moving to Rome in 1626. He became a member of the Accademia di San Luca beginning in 1635 and collaborated on public decorative projects with Alessandro Algardi and Gaspard Dughet among others. From 1649 to 1651, Grimaldi worked with Giovanni Francesco Romanelli in Paris and collaborated on projects for Cardinal Mazarin’s palace and the Palais du Louvre. He designed the chapel of the Immaculate Conception in Tivoli Cathedral from 1656 to 1659.
