Biography:
Born in Haarlem, Willem Claesz Heda worked as a still-life painter in his home city. Along with Pieter Claesz, he was a leader of the ontbijt style of painting, meaning breakfast piece. Heda’s work was also similar to Claesz’s in its gray, green, and brown overtones but his work was more finished and had an aristocratic taste to it.
