Biography:
Jacob Jordaens studied under Adam Van Noort along with Peter Paul Rubens. After marrying his mentor’s daughter, Jordaens remained in his birthplace Antwerp and painted in typical Flemish style. He was commissioned by the King of Spain to create religious paintings and altarpieces in Catholic churches. In his later career, he painted historical works, the most famous was a fresco for the Huis ten Bosch. Jordaens also was a tapestry designer and engraver.
