Biography: Gilles Joubert served as the leading furniture supplier to the Louis XV’s royal household for more than twenty-five years. In 1748, he began making furniture for the royal Garde-Meuble and was not given the title of Cabinetmaker to the King until he was seventy-four years old. Joubert received so many commissions that he enlisted the help of other ebenistes to help. Between 1763 and 1773, he supplied 2200 pieces of furniture to the court.
