Biography:
Born as Juan Macip, Juan Juanes trained with his father and worked with him on many of Valencia’s important commissions until his death in 1550. His work was strongly influenced by his father’s work but also developed more gentle and luminous variations. Juanes traveled to Rome in 1560 and admired the work of Raphael and other Italian influences.
