Biography: Luca di Tomme was trained in Siena by the Lorenzettis, the proprietor family of the most prolific workshop in the city. He was also influenced by the work of Simone Martini. Luca joined the painters’ guild in Siena in 1356 and worked consistently for the Siena Cathedral. His workshop specialized in altarpieces and he often formed collaborations with other artists. His output decreased when he became involved in the Sienese government.
