Biography: Robert Macpherson began as a painter, journalist, and art dealer before turning to photography in 1851. He opened a commercial studio in Rome and listed himself as the “Artist Photographer” in the studio guide in 1858. He was a member of the Photographic Society of Scotland. In the 1860’s, Macpherson suffered from health and financial problems and died in 1872.
