Biography:
Bernardino Mei was able to establish a reputation outside of Siena with the help of an influential patron. He was supported by Fabio Chigi, who later became Pope Alexader VIII and summoned him to Rome. Mei joined the Accademia di San Luca and painted religious pictures for the pope and his nephew. He was influenced by Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s sculpture and contemporary Roman painting.
