Biography:
Hans Mont was born in Ghent, Belgium. He worked in Italy, Austria, Bohemia, and Germany, creating sculptures in the Mannerist style. He returned to Belgium three years later and then worked for Emperor Maximilian II in Vienna creating stucco figures and wall and ceiling decorations. Mont lost an eye while playing tennis in 1580 and was forced to give up sculpture. He became a master builder in Ulm, Germany.
