Biography:
Willem Danielsz. van Tetrode began his career in Florence working in Benvenuto Cellini’s workhop. He then moved to Rome to apprentice with another sculptor and began making small bronze copies of antique sculptures. Tetrode returned to Delft in 1567 and began producing many religious sculptures and altarpieces. He also worked for a short time in Cologne in 1575 as a sculptor and architect for the city’s archbishop.
