Biography: Jacques-Jean-Baptiste Tilliard was born into a family of menuisiers, apprenticing with his father before inheriting his Parisian workshop. He created a comfortable lifestyle for himself, supplying furniture to the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne. His financial success allowed him to retire at the onset of the French Revolution.
