Biography:
Apprenticed to a mosaic artist as a boy, Titian was inspired to create and trained under Bellini and worked with Giorgione. After the death of the latter, Titian became very famous, commissioned for frescoes in Padua and appointed official painter of the Venetian Republic in 1516. His fame continued to grow and Titian received summons from important clientele across Italy. In 1533, Titian was appointed court painter fro Charles V and given the ranking of Count Palatine. He also worked at the Imperial Court in Augsberg for Phillip II in 1548.
