Pioneering Spirit: Intrepid Women of the 19th Century
Micro Museum, Brooklyn, USA United States of America

Artist Juliette Pelletier's premiere mixed media paintings and works on paper will be on display at Micro Museum from March 6 - April 27. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Ms. Pelletier has a unique worldly perception due to her upbringing which spans eight countries and five continents.  In preparation for this exhibit, she gathered historical accounts of her female relatives lives and others.  These remarkable women were pinnacles in their families as they braved challenging circumstances and endured adversity as the results of their femaleness. - Read Indepth Article at www.absolutearts.com

The Purest Benevolence: Handel and the Foundling Hospital
Handel House Museum, London, UK United Kingdom

The Museum’s first major exhibition will focus on Handel’s remarkable relationship with the Foundling Hospital, England's first hospital for abandoned children. Drawn from the extraordinary collection of the Foundling Museum (currently closed for refurbishment), this exhibition of over 30 objects includes such rarely seen treasures as the complete Messiah copy and parts which Handel gave to the hospital in his will – displayed here for the first time in its entirety - the score of the 'Foundling Hospital Anthem' which Handel composed and performed for the hospital’s benefit, tokens left with the children by their destitute mothers, as well as paintings, prints, manuscripts and costumes. - Read Indepth Article at www.absolutearts.com

Playback: A Retrospective of Work by Robert Whitman
Dia Center for the Arts, New York, USA

Beginning March 6, 2003, Dia will present 'Playback,' the first retrospective exhibition of the work of Robert Whitman, a leading exponent of performance art in the 1960s and 1970s. The exhibition brings together a selection of Whitman's key works from the early 1960s to late 1970s, including sculpture incorporating projected film, a laser piece, a multi-projection film installation, and a suite of double-sided drawings. - Read Indepth Article at www.absolutearts.com

Private and Confidential: Works by Predrag Pajdic
Catto Contemporary, London, UK United Kingdom

The most striking feature of Pajdic’s work is the skill and virtuoso draughtsmanship on display. His pen and ink renderings on canvas reveal a technical ability on a par with the great Masters of the Renaissance. But this undeniable fact, though in itself a rare commodity indeed, is not what makes Pajdic an important contemporary artist. It is, to my mind, the level of visceral intimacy and the immediacy of impact that makes his work an artistic force to be reckoned with. We scratch the surface to find many levels of interpretation and meaning, in which artistic tradition and thought is re-examined and reinvented. - Read Indepth Article at www.absolutearts.com

Distant Nudes: Violeta Bubelyte and Remigijus Treigys
Giedre Bartelt Galerie, Berlin, DE Germany

Violeta Bubelyte (*1956) and Remigijus Treigys (*1961) are amongst the most prominent photographers of their generation in Lithuania. But never before have both artists been presented jointly at any thematic exhibition outside this gallery. Their subjects and artistic positions seem to be too far apart. - Read Indepth Article at www.absolutearts.com

Call for Artists: 2003 Photo Review Photography Competition
Photo Review, Langhorne, USA United States of America

Bill Hunt, the influential Directory of Photography of New York's Ricco/Maresca Gallery, will be the juror for the 2003 Photo Review Photography Competition. The Photo Review, a highly acclaimed critical journal of photography, is sponsoring its 19th annual photography competition with a difference. Instead of only installing an exhibit that would be seen by a limited number of people, The Photo Review will reproduce accepted entries in its Summer 2003 issue. Thus, the accepted photographs will be seen by thousands of people all across the country and entrants will have a tangible benefit from the competition. - Read Indepth Article at www.absolutearts.com
